Our Lady of LAX
Our wonderful Holy Nativity icon, affectionately known as Our Lady of LAX, was commissioned by Father Peter from local artist Steven O’Loughlin.
Created in acrylic on carved wood, mother and child are watched over by two archangels while the jets of LAX land on the runway in the background. At Mary’s feet, Girl Scouts play while animals are blessed, trees are planted, and members of the parish go about their ministries. On the outer borders can be seen historical figures from the Dalai Lama to St. Francis of Assisi; to Gandhi; to the first female Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, The Right Reverend Katharine Jefferts Schori.
